Family Hack Moments: Enhancing Online Safety for Children

In an evolving world and society like ours, it is only important that parents are well informed and equipped on ways to make the digital world safe for children’s consumption. Knowledge of the digital world’s evolving nature helps keep children’s social media consumption in check.

In a bid to enhance online safety awareness among parents, Greensprings School partnered with LagosMum’s to deliver a virtual masterclass on Saturday, November 9, 2024. Hosted on the school’s Family Hack Moments platform, the session equipped parents with strategies to safeguard their children in today’s evolving digital world.

During the session, participants gained valuable insights on key topics such as phishing, cyberbullying, and the dangers of fake news. Mrs. Yetty Williams, Founder and CEO of LagosMum’s stressed the importance of teaching children to recognize and avoid online risks like suspicious offers or unsolicited messages.

Key takeaways emphasized the importance of teaching children to critically evaluate information and avoid being influenced by sensational headlines. Additionally, parents were encouraged to create a safe and open environment where children feel comfortable discussing online challenges.
